Alpha Lacrosse Female Player of the Week: Emily Hawryschuk, Syracuse

Our female Player of the Week is Emily Hawryschuk from Syracuse! The sophomore attacker is coming off two emotional overtime games that saw her team go 1-1, earning a win over Loyola, and a heartbreaking 15-14 defeat at the hands of Virginia Tech.

Despite the loss, Hawryschuk’s individual efforts were on display as her registered nine total goals in the two combined games, good enough for 33% of her team’s conversions.

Although Syracuse is 8-6 overall, they are 0-4 in ACC play after the tough loss to Virginia Tech. Playing in one of the toughest conferences has made 2018 a challenging year for Syracuse, despite impressive non-conference victories over Harvard, Princeton and Cornell on the season.

The Orange will need Hawryschuk to maintain her level of play as Syracuse looks to square off against undefeated Boston College (#1 in the ACC) and the ACC’s current second place team, North Carolina Tar Heels, in the next two contests.
